Every year, millions of loved ones are sold into modern-day slavery, and their voices are silenced. We work tirelessly to fight against human trafficking and

help those who have been affected by it.

Understanding
Human Trafficking

MYTHS

There are many myths about human trafficking, such as the idea that it only happens in developing countries or that victims are always physically restrained. In reality, human trafficking is a global problem, and coercion can be psychological as well as physical.

Human trafficking is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights. It involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to exploit a person for labor, services, or commercial sex. Victims of human trafficking can be any age, gender, race, or nationality, and they can be found in all types of industries, from agriculture and construction to domestic work and the sex industry.

What Human Trafficking is Not

Human trafficking is not the same as smuggling or illegal immigration. While smuggling involves the consent of the person being smuggled, human trafficking involves exploitation and does not require movement across borders. A person can be trafficked in their own hometown.

Remember, this is a complex issue that requires a comprehensive approach. We all have a role to play in combating human trafficking

Take Action And
Get Involved

Human trafficking is a global issue that requires collective action. Everyone can play a part in the fight against this heinous crime.

Here are a few ways you can help, and some important resources for victims of human trafficking and those who wish to report suspected cases:

Educate Yourself and Others:

Knowledge is a powerful tool in the fight against human trafficking. Educate yourself about what human trafficking is, who it affects, and how it operates. There are numerous resources available online, including reports, documentaries, and articles. Once you're informed, share this knowledge with others. Raise awareness in your community through discussions, social media, or even by hosting educational events.

Support Anti-Trafficking Organizations:

Organizations like Unbound are at the forefront of the fight against human trafficking. They provide crucial services to victims and work tirelessly to prevent trafficking. You can support these organizations in various ways. Donating money or resources can help them continue their valuable work. Volunteering your time or skills can also be incredibly beneficial.

Advocate for Stronger Policies:

Advocacy is a powerful way to combat human trafficking. Encourage your local and national representatives to enact and enforce strong anti-trafficking laws. This could involve writing to your representatives, signing petitions, or participating in advocacy campaigns.

Be a Conscious Consumer:

Human trafficking is often linked to the global supply chains of various industries, including fashion, technology, and agriculture. As a consumer, you can choose to support companies that have transparent supply chains and are committed to fair labor practices. There are several resources online that can help you make informed purchasing decisions.

Report Suspicious Activity:

If you suspect someone may be a victim of human trafficking, report it to your local law enforcement or a national human trafficking hotline. It's important to remember not to intervene directly, as this could put the victim and you in danger.

Remember, every action, no matter how small, can contribute to the fight against human trafficking. Together, we can make a difference.
